"Draaaw" Great Horned Owlet. Fledged one day earlier. Image made in the Nisqually wildlife refuge. Washington. This little guy is quite early and it was quite a surprise to find him at waters edge about 100 yrds from the nest. Once they go to ground you rarely see them. He got tired of the branches that he hid under hitting him in the face, so he leaped out to this partially submerged log, only to find more branches which he quickly bit in half so that they no longer poked him.
